ADSL is a faster connection to the Internet, and has the following advantages over dial-up access:

  • Internet speed at least 5 times as fast
  • You can make phone calls while using the Internet
  • You can leave the Internet on all day at no extra cost!
  • You can use your ADSL connection for an Internet Telephone

 

There are many models available:

TP-Link 8810:A basic ADSL modem for $30 + $10 postage

Web Excel AL2112P: An ADSL modem that has wireless built in, ideal for laptop owners. $80 plus $10 postage

OPEN 824RLW: An ADSL modem that has wireless and VoIP built in, where you can use the one phone for both VoIP and normal calls. Two lines. $110 plus $10 postage. (These used to be over $200!) These are my favourite modem highly recommended!

The monthly fee, charged to your bank account or credit card by Exetel, depends on what plan you choose. Your plan determines your speed and how much you are allowed to download.

This is a fee that Telstra charges to Exetel, and Exetel passes on to you. ($88 as of June, 2008)

 

 

If you download more than the amount included in your plan, you will be charged for excess downloads. Refer to the column marked "Excess Downloads Per Gigabyte" on the pricing schedule

 

 

ADSL is failry simple for you to set up yourself. However, if you would like some help, we can organise on-site installation for you. Rates vary from $33 one off to $66 per hour + travel depending on where you live and is not avaialble in all areas.
